    Hello all,

I'm looking at building a new system on a one-income family budget. The most power I'll need is for putting together videos with an old version of Adobe Premiere Pro. Just some family videos; nothing HD, nothing fancy. I'm thinking an Intel Core i5 (with the integreated graphics), 8gb ram, 1 tb HD. Yes, it would be nice to get more power, but I'm not sure if the old Premiere can even take advantage of the 64 bit technology. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The build you've described sounds pretty decent. If you ever start doing light to moderate HD editing, this system should handle it as well.

Do not skimp on the power supply or hard drive. It's tempting in order to shave a few bucks off the build but you'll be sorry in the long run.

Using on-board video, you'll be OK with a 450-500 watt PSU from a decent company such as Antec or Cooler Master.

For the hard drive, spend a few extra bucks and go with a WD Caviar Black series. I've found them to be the most reliable consumer grade priced drive on the market. Stay away from Hitachi and WD's green series, both have miserable failure rates.

    Hope this helps. :)
