I am using Windows XP Home. In my Windows Task Manager, I am showing 45 Processes running. Are there any guidelines available to help us determine what really needs to be running all the time and what we DO NOT need. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This program will do the job,it's not free but you can download it and have a fully working free trial for 15 days.

It has a process manager that checks all processes and flags any suspect process in red and if you are not sure what it is you have an option to check it on the web before you do anything.

I used the free trial and then bought it but mine is the Vista version which is exactly the same.
