I get the following error peridoically. Usually at 5:00 am when my Norton Save & Restore 2.0 backup should begin.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0xb8338d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini122709-01.dmp.

I've attached the readout from the dmp file. I haven't added any new hardware. Updated my antivirus to Norton 2010 from 2009. And installed Norton Ultilites. It doesn't happen every day, but is becoming a common occurrence.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
    thanks,
    nick

    Hi

Are you saving your backups to an external USB drive by any chance? if so and only from soemthing I noticed in your bugreport is that the USB may have gone into hibernation power saving mode, so with only the USB drive you maybe using plugged in, open Device Manager and click Universal Serial Bus Controllers + and then you should see USB Mass Storage or check each of the HUBS for your drive being listed (rigth click properties for the HUB data menus) then if you find the one its located in (power tab) choose Power Management and Untick the Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power and apply.

thanks - I was getting excited that this could be the problem. But I checked all the hubs and the power saver wasn't checked. This issues occurs sporadically, so if course, it's going to be difficult to resolve.

    Hi

I was hoping the same for an easy fix, but not seeming like its going to be! variable times of this happening then think hibernation or sleep and dont have your PC enter these states.

Do any other tasks have a timescale of starting that that time? could be system restore or defrag etc, check your apps.

We doe have a Norton expert from Symantec visit this forum on occasion so hopefully he notices this thread as I not upto speed on Norton apps as much as I should be, I have sent him a PM so hopefully he will read it soon and be able to advise.
