I just build a brand new system. I have an MSI K9A2 Platinum mo, seagate barracuda 500g hdd, ATI 3870 Diamond Ruby video card, Lite-on DVD RW and DVD drive, 2 g's of Kingston Hyper x memory 240-Pin DDR2 1066, and a phenom 9600 black edition processor. When I load in the overclocking software that came with the motherboard and run the software, the cpu freezes after a few minutes. The program is called "Dual Core Center" and I do everything it tells me to do. I install the .net Framework 2.0 and the patch that comes with it. After installing the software and rebooting I go and run the overclocking software and the CPU just freezes! Everything is running normally inside the case but the monitor freezes and unable to move mouse or use keyboard b/c cpu is frozen!I go and reboot and everything seems normal. How can I get the software to work correctly?

    Hi

    What OS you using?
If Vista then try running that app as Admin, Right click its shortcut and choose run as Administrator.

But to be very honest, that PC is quick enough for all real world tasks and has no need to be overclocked, if your doing overclocking to beat some benchmark score then its not worth it, especially if your a novice at overclocking as you can do more harm to your PCs hardware then good.

If you are to want to overclock then take small steps with the setting and make sure system is stable, plus have seriosuly good cooling and a very cable and airflow tidy inside of case.

^^^ Agreed. Even if you overclock, the result is disappointing, compared to Core 2 overclocking.

If you must overclock Phenom, ditch the MSI crap. Get the real deal:

Overdrive is what everyone uses to overclock Phenom. You got the right parts. You should be able to get 100-300mhz o/c out of the 9600 Black. Google for how-to's.

    I don't see the reason for that.For 100-300Mhz?
    NOT worth it!!
