Hello...After using my computer for a while, and visiting different web sites my computer starts to get very, very slow. I have downloaded process explorer, and when I check my system I see that my system idle process is at nearly 100% as well as my cpu usage. Nothing else is showing up as using cpu to any great extent, so I know it's my system idle....I double click on system idle process, and check the tcp/ip tab, and there are maybe 50 different web sites in there in different modes..some are connecting, some disconnecting, some listening, others in wait time mode......I reboot my computer to start over with a clean slate, and it will work well again until the tcp/ip area is clogged up again. I am using spyware doctor, and have run scans with adaware, spybot search and destroy.
any idea what is going on?
I am running windows xp..1 gig ram, 80g of hard drive 12g available, abit kr7a, amd athlon 1.3 gb..system is about four years old. I haven't added any new hardware or software lately.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated, and thanks.
    Tom

    Hi

System Idle at 90-100% is a normal occurance it means your CPU is idle and not doing any tasks, sometimes you do gain TCP/IP entries in Idle Process, as many softwares do have idle processes listening to outgoing ports.

But to fully check your PC for the slowness being caused by malware then please follow the below and attach the logs requested.

Our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
