I am in the process of trying to reinstall windows on my laptop. I managed to kill the hdd which was holding the 'recovery partition.' I swapped out the drive but have not ha any luck getting windows on it. I tried a couple of .iso files and a disk from a different computer but have gotten nowhere. If anyone can help me get this computer running again it would be greatly appreciated. The specs are as follows:

    HP dv6830us (dv6700 series) laptop
    Intel T5550 Core2Duo Processor
    4Gb DDR2 @ 667 MHz (upgraded from 3Gig)
500Gb WD Scorpio Blue HDD (upgraded from WD 250Gb)
    Vista Home Premium

I went ahead and replaced the system but would like to get it running with Vista back on it. I have the code for Vista on the bottom of the laptop but no Vista :/

I guess you're right. I have the 2nd system now so I guess I can wait a few days for the disc. I just wish they'd lose the partition idea! Thanks for the link
