For some reason its impossible to do a system restore or create a system restore point. Help?
Its really bugging me. I can't use some programs because of it.

    Help us help you. :)
    What OS and Service Pack?
    What programs can't you run?
Have you tried to restore in safe mode. F8 at boot.

    Cheers..

Do you have Norton Security installed? Because you may have to disable it to run System Restore or to set a Restore Point.

I'm using Vista Home Premium and I can't use things like the Microsoft Fix it.
And yes. I've tried it in Safe Mode.

Nope. I don't have Norton Security.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive? If you do not have enough, system restore will turn itself off and not allow you to turn it on again until you have at least 200 MB free space on the hard drive.

I have 239 GB out of 288 GB so that should be enough.

What error(s) do you get a) when you try to create a restore point and b) when you use MS Fixit?

Have a look in the event log, to see if it shows" Volume shadow copy Service Error"
If it does, it would be easier to save your data and re-install Vista.
I am not that experienced in correcting these sort of errors, but thought I would at least give you somewhere to start.
From what I have read about this , it gives you these problems, and system restore stops working.
In Vista, I would right click my computer, click manage, then click on event viewer.
