Thanks for the advice regarding the firewall. Truthfully I had Norton in the past and thought it worked well. However I can tell the newer Norton bogs your system more. Anyway, I turned off the Norton Worm program. I tried to do a system restore to no avail. After the computer goes through the process of attempting to restore, a message appears indicating that the system cannot be restored as no changes have been made. This has never happened to me before, and I'm wondering if the the two half arse firewalls running at the same time made me vulnerable to something. I ran Norton, Yahoo Antispy, Spybot and Adware and everything was clean, so I'm a bit baffled as to why System Restore is not working. I did some research and found the following suggestion for someone with a similar problem:

    1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

    2. Restart your computer.

    3. Turn ON System Restore.
    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
      Click Properties.
      Click the System Restore tab.
      UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
System Restore will now be active again.

Do you agree with the above, or do you suggest something else regarding the current problem with system restore?

      Thanks again for your help!

Then create a system restore point to be sure. :)

Getting rid of ALL of Norton is difficult, before eliminating your past Restore points I would think it wise to eliminate ALL of Norton first, if memory serves me right there is a program here at MG that removes all of Norton, us search to find it.

It is working. System Restore, like most bundled Windows applications, is very basic.

And it's not really designed to remove programs.
