    Hi

I'm having trouble restoring my PC to an earlier date. After creating a restore point I've attempted to "rollback" to that point but the system refuses to do so.
It will go through the motion and restart the pc at hich point I get a message stating that the rollback was unsuccessful. I can't even resore the checkpoints that are automatically set.

Could this be due to a virus or system malfunction?

    OS: winXP Serpack 3

    Suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Here's an informative link.

IIRC after creating a restore point, previous restore points are deleted.
Any way as the Sys is now - not restoring to the created or the subsequent points, try restoring with your Anti virus disabled.
This has worked for me often.

Next give system restore a go in safe mode, with the AV disabled as well.
To enter safe mode tap F8 at boot.

    Cheers..

Do as sikvik has said, but if you have trouble with those instructions, try this option http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449 which allows you to create a system restore point in safe mode !

    Good Luck Rusty ! ;)
