    I have been having problems for the last few days. I have a system security pop up which appears whether I am on the internet or not. This pop up says that I have many viruses and to get rid of them I have to buy the System Security Program. If you choose yes it asked for credit card info. I have used your malware cleanup for Windows XP with all the tools except SuperAntiSpyware.exe which I could not install and it has not helped the problem. The pop up happens about every 3 minutes and will not stop. I do not want to down load anything that will harm my computer. This is my son's computer and he says that this problem started when he was downloading a movie from Limewire, and surfing my space, two days ago. Besides just giving me the notice about the viruses it also showing a window stating that my computer has been infected with a worm called lsas.blaster.keyloger. Please help. I am not very experience with computer problems so need someones help. I will attach the logs if I don't have to much trouble. Thanks for your quick response.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of Limewire.....:(

    Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now let's use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    o If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\WME126vh.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Desktop\System Security.lnk

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\153793357

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "1354637017"=-

    AtJob::
    DEL /A/F/Q "%Tasks%\AT*.job"

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combo.

    thanks for your prompt reply. I have since had something happen that really concerns me. The night after I posted on your sight I had turned the computer off excited about your reply. the next morning at 5:00 AM i had to go to work early and the comuter was on with several error on the desktop. I ran to get a pen to write them down and the computer shut down before I could get any writen down. Then it started to install something just like windows does when you update its files. The thing that concerns me is that the computer turned it self on not me. I just unplugged it and have waited to see what you had to say. Is this a normal? I8 have talked to a few people who are kinda savy with computers, they said it was not normal for this to happen. I now think that it would be wise to wipe it out and start again. what is your oppinion on this. I have never done anything like this before is it difficult or should I take it to a professional. If you feel that it would be wise to wipe out the system what programs would I use and how would I go about doing it? thanks for your info.

    I would suggest that you get me the logs I ask for in my last reply and we will see what may have happened. :)

    Tried to uninstall the two updates youu suggested a window popped up saying the Window installer service could not be accessed. Used the MGtools\analysis.exe tool and could not find the line "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [1354637017] "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\153793357\1354637017.exe" Then I used Combofix.exe as you stated. Will attach log files.

    Other than still having limewire installed, your logs are clean. :)

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
