System slows down when running utorrent

When I start uTorrent my system permanently slows down to a crawl. This also happens when I start Thunderbird, but only for a few minutes. Because this has only been happening for a few weeks, I assumed it was the result of my upgrading uTorrent, but today I tried downgrading back to 1.6 and the same thing happened. (although I installed it over the new one, since there is no real way to uninstall uTorrent as far as I can see)

I'm pretty sure it's not a malware related problem since neither my F-Secure nor Spyware doctor is able to find anything. I'll try running Spybot again to be sure. (EDIT: done, nothing but a cookie)

Since this is a problem that only happens on several occasions, I'm not sure what to attach to give some insight but I hope someone will be able to help. Since it also happens for a while with TB, I don't think switching torrent clients will help.

 

Do you mean your PC slows down or do you mean your internet slows down. If you are downloading torrents, this will affect your internet speeds if uTorrent is not set up properly.

 

use Ccleaner.
use defragging coz if utorrent application is scattered all over hard disk that could be possible reason for hard disk to read that app. takes time.. or for that matter TB. (i know utorrent is light softwaresizes in Kb's just give a try)

download utorrent from utorrent.com or check the file size. applies with TB too..
or its time u should be upgrading ur system..

It's entirely the computer speed. As far as I can tell the internet speed is unaffected.

I did defrag all my discs, and even formatted the disc I download to the most. No change. And since it's a recent development I'm sure it's walking circles around the problem if I upgrade. I'll try CCleaner and post the results.

 

Ran CCleaner, no change.

Someone, please, help :cry
