    OS: Windows 10
    AV: McAfee AntiVirus Plus

For the past few days, my laptop has been slow and sluggish...hourglass spinning endlessly. Many times, the system appeared to hang so I've resorted to doing a forced shutdown.

I've run the apps described in Malware Removal Guide. Several times, I have had to resort to forced shutdowns in order to get the apps to run to completion. With subsequent completion of these removal apps, the sluggishness has begun to wane. Regardless, I've opted to seek your assistance. The requested logs are attached.

Re run Hitman Pro, activate/enable the free trial, and then allow it to remove all it finds.

What can you tell me about these entries which RogueKiller finds:

    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules | {42D0C521-90E1-40B2-A9E0-61DEFDABC2B5} :
    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules | {CB83F301-3822-4872-8BE2-C2477BCC82DF}

    Kestrel13!...

Ok thanks...ran Hitman and deleted all that it found. With regard to what RogueKiller found, specifically, the two entries with label "Suspicious.Path", can't provide any help as I have no clue.

Awaiting further instructions. Again, thank you for the help.

Have RogueKiller remove those items, reboot the machine, rescan with RogueKiller. Do they show up again or are those entries gone now?

    Kestrel13!,

Per your instructions, I removed the 2 suspicious paths and re-ran RogueKiller. Although the deleted entries did not reappear, there were other items found.

OK, everything RogueKiller found last is legit. How are things running?

Ok, thank you. My laptop appears to be running a lot faster and back to normal...no long periods of hourglass spinning. I will continue to monitor it and if sluggishness reappears will check back.

    Again, thank you.

    You are most welcome. :)

Here are final steps for you to follow should you find no further malware issues.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Kestrel13!,

The sluggishness and system hangs still persist. I've run the adware removal applications and nothing new/significant resides. I am beginning to think my troubles are hardware or OS related. To compound things, I realized I didn't have backup nor a system image available and as I try to engage these capabilities, especially for my files, etc. the system eventually hangs.

Any recommendations and insights are welcomed.
