    Ok new problem.

Just done a BIOS update, now my system sounds are not working, this includes music in media player and any DVD movies.

But if I open my Realtek software and do the speaker test it sounds off.

    Any ideas?

    Win 7.

God Ned, you're nothing but a walking problem this year.

Do you have any options in your sound manager, I think under configure, for selecting different sound options. This worked for me once.

Another thing that has worked for me is to disable the driver, reboot and reenable. This would be in device manager, also, any flags there?

Some possible quick fixes, but I don't have W7.

No flags in Dev man, have just uninstalled/reinstalled drivers.

If I open sound manager I get the test in configuration and it's good.
I open Realtek sound manager and same results.

But I have no sound from media or system.

Just swapped sound options 2 or 3 times to no avail.

I'm pretty sure most of these problems are caused by my mobo in some way but since I can't afford new stuff I just have to fix stuff, fix 1 thing, something else breaks.
    Story of my life lol

I don't understand how I get sound from tests in all 5 speakers but no sound from anything else.

I've encountered problems with sound files where if I don't save them in Control Panel as a defined "Sound Scheme" eg.Steve or whatever you want to call it, then they will not work.

    Ok I've fixed it lol

Unistalled drivers again and on restart I stopped in the BIOS.

Plug and Play option had been set to "No"
So I set it to "Yes"

On startup Windows installed sound drivers and my sound is back to normal.

I'm presuming it's the plug and play thing since I had already reinstalled drivers.

BTW the sound card is onboard.

Anyway, thanks for advice guys, keep your fingers crossed for me that nothing else goes wrong lol
