System still crashing when opening Realtek Audio Manager

Hello again. Well, I'm sorry to say that I still have problems with Realtek. :cry In an effort to eliminate malware as a possible cause, I have run all the malware removal steps and here are my logs.

Combofix deleted some YouTube Downloader toolbar files, although the toolbar is still there. I had it set to not show, and was considering removing it anyway as I don't use it. Combofix stopped twice after Stage 3 and after Stage 50 with a “no disk in drive” error. After lots of <try again> and <cancel> it finally got going and finished. I cannot get RootRepeal to finish (same thing last month). It gets to the Windows\winsxs\manifests and hangs. After 40 minutes it shuts down with an error. This time I have saved the entries up to the hang with the snipping tool, so they appear as two jpg files. I got confused with the instructions and ran Mgtools twice.

The issue that is ongoing is this: any time I right-click on the Realtek icon in the notification tray, select Audio Devices, Recording, after a few seconds the system crashes and restarts, showing the message about an unexpected shutdown and giving restart options: Normal Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe with Command Prompt. This is not a random crash, I can reproduce it at will. As far as I can tell, it started after installing a new Behringer USB microphone. The volume was too low (using Audacity) and in trying to fix this, I started having problems leading to this system crash. I have not used the mic for the last month but Realtek is still crashing.

I thought perhaps a new driver was needed but cannot rule out malware until some of you guys give the all-clear. My computer is working well in all other respects and, with newly installed memory, is quite a bit speedier. On restarting after adding 2GB of RAM, it would not boot but I finally got it to work by changing the boot sequence in BIOS to Hard Drive, then CD/DVD drive. Perhaps there is something wrong with the BIOS? The computer was bought new in 2007. All of this is documented in other threads I posted in the Drivers and Software forums and I'm sorry if this is seen as duplication. I need to start recording music again (with my new mic) and this Audio Manager problem is becoming frustrating to say the least.

Not a malware issue, I am afraid. I suggest you continue in the software forum for further assistance.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
