    Hi,

I was going through on what you sent me. Thanks. I think I should inform you these too.
At the end of that page it says about a malware cleaning. I have Norton 360 installed very recently and that it how I got to know about the virus. Do I still need to do the malware removal? Until that one I have followed all the instructions.
Norton shows that I need a manual removal to clean my computer. I followed all the options but I couldn't clean my computer yet.

    My computer: a Windows 7 64-bit

    Thanks

Okay, I followed everything and here are the attachments requested.

I got logs for RogurKiller, Malwarebytes and MGlogs but those files are large and can not attach here. Please let me know if there is anything I can do about it.

Please let me know what I should do next.

    Thank you!!

The logs from Mbam and RK can easily be attached here as files. The zipped files from MGTools (MGlogs.zip) can also very easily be attached, you do not need to seperate logs out of it and break them up.

  7. kctrojen

    kctrojen Private E-2

I tried again. But still can't attach them.
MGlogs.zip file is 10MB, RK txt file 1.17MB and mbam txt file 396KB in size. So this does not let me attach them saying they are too big files. What can I do?

    Thanks.

Those sizes shouldn't be too big at all. :confused Try a different browser and see if it helps.

I tried again and I think I made it this time. :)
All the logs are attached now.

    Thanks.

Thank you so much for working on my issue.

All the files are attached below. I got only one issue. When it says to look for the certain .dll file to to fix while running MGtools, I did not have that kind of line. So I ignored it. I have the screenshots I got of the list I had. Let me know if you need it.

Please tell me what I need to do next.

    Thanks.

RogueKiller does not seem to be able to help us with those entries so...

http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/1263/frst.gif For 32-bit (x86) systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.
For 64-bit (x64) systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

    Enter System Recovery Options.

To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
    • Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account and click Next.

To enter System Recovery Options by using Windows installation disc:

    • Insert the installation disc.
    • Restart your computer.
    • If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
    • Click Repair your computer.
    • Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account an click Next.
On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Select Command Prompt
    • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
    • The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
    • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
    • In the command window type e:\frst.exe (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
    • Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
    • The tool will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach this log to your next reply. (How to attach)

I just scan it as it didn't say anything to fix.

    Thanks.

Excellent, it found the culprit and I believe it will fix it.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

Once done, re run RogueKiller again, just a scan, and attach the log.

How is the machine currently behaving?

  20. kctrojen

I do not know how to tell that exactly.
When I ran a quick scan on Norton 360 it said no threats. But when I tried a full system scan it always get stuck at the end. This was there for few days now. Any thoughts why is that?
One more thing. My computer still showing CPU usage around or more than 30% even when I do not do anything. (it was disconnected from internet too). This happened after the virus infection.
And very recently I got some files on desktop that are hidden(shows like invisible). Some of they have the same name (ex: desktop.ini)What do I need to do?

    Thank you.

Where did my reply go?? (may be it was too long? :confused ) I will post them in shorter.

I am not very clear about the machine yet. I am still having these issues.

*Norton 360 quick scan came out with no threats as the result. But full system scan get stuck at the end always. This happened for few days now.
*My CPU usage is ridiculously high even when I do not use the computer and whn has no internet connection. It is like that even now.
*Got some files on my desktop from nowhere a few days earlier that looks like hidden files and some of them are having the same name. ex: desktop.ini. I didn't even touch them!

Let me know what I should do next to overcome these.
    Thanks.

I don't know, nor am I familiar with Norton. You can ask about this in the software forum.

Again, topic for the software forum.
This is just due to the fact we are going thru a malware removal process and hidden files and folders were set to show. Final steps will reverse this. :)

    Most welcome. Safe surfing!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
