Avanquest Software has one of those "All-In-One" type of apps called SystemSuite 9 (I think they're up to v10 now) and from what I can see, there's no way to uninstall it. What it did (or the PC user did using this program) was to label explorer.exe as malicious, and therefore it was blocked from running and even the extension was RENAMED!!! So I had to boot to PE (via the UBCD4Win), copy a new explorer.exe in to C:\Windows. Then I removed all the SystemSuite entries from system startup (or so I thought), and rebooted to Windows. Apparently I missed something 'cuz again explorer.exe was branded as malicious, was blocked, and again renamed. So I went back to the UBCD4Win, and this time I renamed every Avanquest folder and SystemSuite folder by adding a .aaaa to the end of the name. I figured this would prevent them from running. Then I copied another new clean Explorer back to the Windows folder and rebooted. Great! This time it worked! The desktop came up with icons, the Start button, everything is more-or-less functional. So I went back and removed all the .aaaa from the folder names so I could uninstall SystemSuite, but it is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (we're on WinXP Home SP3), and it doesn't have a folder listed in Start > All Programs, there's only a shortcut in the All Programs list. PLUS there does not appear to be an uninst000.exe (or something similar) in the SystemSuite folder. I also tried Revo Uninstaller and SystemSuite or Avanquest weren't listed there either. So it looks like I might have to manually delete all the files.... any ideas on how I can get this garbage app removed?
    :-D
    Thanks!

Do a search in the registry and delete everything from there, also you could download tweaknow to totally clean out the registry, http://www.tweaknow.com it may help you out and help get rid of more, if you want to chance using a reg cleaner yet !

Well.... nevermind. I manually deleted everything related to Avanquest and SystemSuite9 as there was no way to perform a 'standard' uninstall. I just can't believe what a HUGE pile of :crap this program was. Wow. It had so many things running in the background that it slowed the PC down big time, it blocked explorer.exe from running and changed the extension, it had a firewall with a "Firewall is loading...." progress indicator on-screen most of the time, basically a really bad program.

@ rustyjack: I was typing this as you posted.... I got so frustrated with this SystemSuite9 that I said "@#$%* it!" and just manually removed everything from the hard drive and registry that I could find that was associated with the program.... thanks for your input though!
    ;)
