sorry, not sure which forum to post this in. I got this as a freebie when I downloaded registery booster (uniblue). Just wondering if anyone here had any idea if it's a good program or should I not waste the space? I usually am good just following your lists (basic maintenence, the malware list etc.)

I have used registery booster before though and really do like it, so that was the reason for the download.

    Thanks ! :confused

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

To be honest at times a tweaking app is great, however so long as you know what your actually tweaking as some tweaks to the system can cause instability, that said the tweaking app can be useful for changing some of the small niggly things you dont like disabling the Balloon Tips to customising the speed of the start menu etc

Just remember what you have changed, or do a quick internet search to see if its a tweak that can cause issue.

The registry app you bought to get this free is a different story, to be very honest, the registry takes up a small space on the HDD anyway and over time yes it can with you adding and uninstalling applications, will get junk entries it it, however even removing these defunct entries yoru PC is not going to magically speed up (not matter what a visual barometer or needle on a guage is telling you) as the space gained from deleting old and orphaned entries in the registry hives is not going to be much a few megbytes at best.

Many many free options to clean the registry and tweak your PC are available, CCleaner is a good free option as is tweaking options listed HERE (many free some not so, but not knowing your Windows version I couldnt suggest)

Hi Thanks for the reply. I am running Windows XP SP 3 (I finally gave in an updated to 3). I bought a new registry booster because it seemed to pick up so much more stuff than CCleaner's registery cleaner did when I had the way old version.

Not sure if there is really anything I need/want to tweak, to be honest I don't know alot about it. I just like to keep as much junk off my puter as as I can, and I am by no mean an expert at any of these, I operate mostly off the advice and posts on this board from the great people here.

Thanks again so much for your advice! :)

    Hi

Ah thats fair point on picking up more, but more as CCleaner is a safe-ish registry cleaner and just going down to as many hives as you really need to, but if your happy with that app then great, if it allows backups of what it removes do use that option.

As for tweaking it has its good and bad points, dont think I have tweaked this Windows 7 install of mine yet, no need to, so likely if your happy with how your WinXP is working then leave alone,

No problems, thats what we are here for :)
