I am offering my roommate and guests Accounts on my desktop. This is three accounts, Mine(administrator), caretakers(user), Guest(user). Recently I installed Office2013 on my account, thinking it would be available for everyone, but apparently not, Do I have to install this package on everyone's account separately? Or is there something simple I'm missing?

    Oh yeah, Win7 Ultimate,1tb HD

Microsoft Office installs for all users.

It didn't in this case I did an ISO thumb drive install. My working assumption is I did something wrong. I haven't shared a computer like this before so a lot of obvious things aren't.

I've been using PCs daily since 1987 and a lot of obvious things STILL aren't ;) .

I copied the shortcut for the MSOffice2013 icon and put it in the root directory, then copied it in the user account I wanted it in. It seems to work, Any pitfalls I need to be aware of?

When a program installs for All Users it's the same as installing for the User installing the program i.e. it installs just one instance of the program. The only difference is it creates shortcuts in the Start Menu for All Users. Copying those shortcuts to the Start Menu of another user account is a simple workaround.

So to give a user their own independent version I would need to reinstall it for them? Using the same validation key?

    No.
You can't install an "independent version" of MS Office for each user.

If the user is not an administrator, he/she can't launch file explorer and look through the files of another user. Caretaker can't search through Wendy's file. The only way that would happen if "caretaker" knows your password and logs in as you.

She is a little disdainful of computers in general. I'm just making sure she has access if she needs it. I have a flat bed scanner and HP Laser connected to it.

The shortcut trick seemed to work, Any tests I can do to find problems she might have before she tries it? Since I set up the account I can log in as her profile and run tests.
