T-Mobile Connection Manager

We recently received a Sony Vaio, secondhand, from my girlfriend's, father. We installed the software for our wireless connection, and the connection manager keeps freezing on the opening splash/logo thingy. We've tried numerous things to fix it, some orthodox and some not so, and we're both out of ideas at this point. If anyone knows anything that might help, it would be very much appreciated. The service provider is T-Mobile, and the piece of hardware in question is a PCI Sony Ericsson GC89 wireless internet modem.
