T23 ThinkPad Toshiba SD-C2512 dvd rom malfunction

    I am at a loss for a solution. Drive is not reading any disks and is displaying a "Disk is not formatted error "and "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows." I have removed and reinstalled hardware and driver to no avail. What else do I need to do? Thanks All.

    Sounds like the DVD drive might be dead.
    Does it show up in device manager?
