I just got a Terbo G9 101 Archos Internet Tablet and I wanted to know if I sould use up any of my Memory on an Anti Virus APP?

I am not going to be opening e mails with photos or anything. If I do open an e mail it is just going to be text.

But I did not know because I will be downloading APPs. and I did not think you could get a Virus?

I use the Dr. Web lite AV app and haven't noticed any issues with just 512 MB of RAM on my G9 80 tablet. It's light enough on resources that I've yet to ditch it. It's a basic, no frills AV without all the extra junk Avast, Norton and AVG pile into their apps.

I've heard about the threat of Android viruses but not much in the way of actual infections. Take care like with your PC and it shouldn't be any more risky.

Well I am only going to use my Tablet mostley fore music and videos.

And if I do go online it will be to play videos.

So do you think I sould get the anti virus program anyway?

And I hear that people get APPs. from Amazon but I do not know how?

If I go to Amazon web site it is just the store

Stick to reputable sites and it's probably not necessary. Like I said, I haven't actually heard a lot about actual Android malware problems but those Mac users with that trojan thought the same. I left Dr. Web lite on mine because I play around with mine a bit more and I haven't noticed any slowdown yet.

To get Amazon apps, you must download the Amazon Store app and install it on your tablet. You will need to allow unknown sources (by checking the box next to the entry) to do so. If you are still using Honeycomb, the entry will be under Applications and under Security in Ice Cream Sandwich. Open up this link in your tablet's browser: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get-appstore/android It will then install the Appstore.

I had the Amazon Appstore for a week. They didn't have anything special the official appstore didn't. I uninstalled it because it ended up another service wasting resources.

I do not have a G Mail account because I did not want one more account.

Can I use Amazon to get my APPs from or do I need a G Mail for them to?

And is there a place toi get APPs without having a G Mail?

You will need an Amazon Store account to use their app store and I think there are places one can get apps besides Google or Amazon but I wouldn't trust them.

Well I do have an Amazon account but do I also need a G Mail account?

And 2. do I just go to Amazon on my Tablet and Log In to my Amazon account and that is it?

When you open the Amazon app the first time, it will ask for your Amazon account information. You don't need Gmail to get Amazon apps.

What is the Amazon website I go to to get the APP?

I have an Amazon account already with them.

And do I have to give them a credit card even if I am not going to buy any APPs?
