Google Play is the Google Android store. Any device running Android OS will access play.google.com, but not every device is compatible with all apps in Google's store.

    HI

You can find a long list of devices compatible with Google Play HERE, but I totally agree with Brownizs that it then depends on a few things like hardware (some apps need specific hardware), OS used and version etc

Best advice from me is to look for a new-ish device and then do some research online as to what other users say the compatibility with apps is like with the devices you choose to possibly buy.

Although I have limited experience with Android, I've heard it's best to get a tablet with the latest version of Android (v.4, also known as "Ice Cream Sandwich"). There are still some cheaper/older models out there that come with v.2 which may not work as well with newer apps.

the reason why some android tablets do not have google play or access to the google android market is because they are not endorsed by google and have no access
they usually have a very limited market version of there own but the software selection is dire at best

jellybean is the latest software at the moment and can be found on the latest tablets
if you want to be sure to get everything you hope for going for one of the google branded nexus tablets ( made by asus ) wouldn't be a bad idea there bang up to date and are pretty slick to use

on the other hand there are some nice tablets that are not endorsed by google with no access to the play market but they usually can be updated to use the play market without too much fuss
