Tactic 3D Alpha headset popping noise

    After installing the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha headset I quickly discovered it doesn't work. All I am getting from the headset is a strange popping noise whenever a sound should be playing. The headset connects to the computer through its own USB device (THX TruStuido Pro) that comes with it. However, if I just use the standard jacks on the computer the headset works just fine.

    OS: Windows XP sp3
    Motherboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI

    Any ides on what the problem could be?

    Update: Now I have no sound what so ever.

    (!) Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver

    and my computer can't find an active mixer device.
