Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

Having trouble deleting TagAsauras, each time I run spybot it finds it. The computer has since ran slower, the screen freezes frequently, and now the tab key doesn't work. Housecall, AVG, and adaware show nothing.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

CounterSpy

AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy

Bitdefender - from step 6

Panda Scan - from step 6

runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat

HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

After running all of the above and attaching the logs, if Spybot is still detecting TagAsauras, attach a log from Spybot.

Completed tasks

I tried to run counterspy, but it wouldn't work. And AVG Antispy said wrong operating system, so I ran spybot and adaware instead. Runkey, shownew, and hjt on next thread.

Other housekeeping

I recently ran bfu, which may have destroyed tagasaurus. The computer still freezes during screensaver, and loses resources quickly although.

Sorry bout the many threads

Spybot was running during my last thread, and it found tagasauras again. Thus bfu didn't destroy it as previously thought.

Please rename and install HijackThis as requested in step 7 of the READ ME.

You did not follow the directions in the READ ME!!!!!! You are using a version of Spybot that is about 3 years out of date! Uninstall it, reboot, and then follow the directions in the READ ME for installing, updating and configuring the current version. Then run a new scan.

If Spybot still detects but cannot fix your problem, please attach a log from Spybot that shows what it is finding!

If you cannot get CounterSpy to work, you should uninstall it.

You also need to update Sun Java as specified in step 6 of the READ ME.
You are using a very old version: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1

You should uninstall this old version, reboot, and then install the new version.
