When I used Chrome yesterday the search engine had changed from Google to Goonsearch. I am not aware of having changed anything from the previous day that might have caused it. I cannot find it in Control Panel>Program or when searching the Registry. One site suggested searching for 'randomthings' but checked out as above and nothing came up.

I have Windows7 and run Norton 365. Scans using Norton and SpybotS&D do not show any results. It has not infected IE9.

    What should I try next?

While you have Google Chrome open, type this into the address bar and press ENTER: chrome://chrome/settings/

From here you should be able to remove any settings related to "Goonsearch".

Thanks for your reply. After posting my question I decided to uninstall and reinstall Chrome which appears to have cured the problem. I will rememebr your advice if the problem recurs
