My brother handed me his laptop with a piece of malware that was running on IE speaking to him that his IP address had been comprised and a bunch of his user ID's stolen and to call a number. We closed IE and it went away. I ran through the read and run me first steps...some of which need to be updated since most of that software has changed since those were written...like MGTools now just creates a zip file for you and dumps it on your desktop. One of the other ones now has quarantine as the only option, not delete.

Anyway, here's a few log files. There was some other junk that was found. I did go through ahead of running the scans and deleted anything suspicious software wise.

Thanks ahead of time for the help!

    Please delete what ADWCleaner found....then
    Please go here > https://www.zemana.com/Download
their program is no longer free, but you can use the demo version for this cleaning.

It auto updates, and you click scan. After it's finished, click on the icon that looks like Cell phone strength bars. High-light the report (by date log was produced) and click on the "Open Report" icon. (looks like a folder). That notepad.txt can then be copied/pasted into another .txt doc and saved. Upload that, please.

Nice to chat with you again. Here's the log you requested. Only one entry.

If you removed what ADW found and Zemana fixed the browser, are you having any other malware issues?

    Tim,

This thing takes forever to boot. Win 10, i5 seventh gen and 8 gb RAM. Any idea what might speed that up from the logs you saw? It's just slow to respond to programs opening as well. IE opens very slowly and once it does and you put a cursor on it, the window collapses. The task bar shows it open, but it won't stay on screen.

Not seeing any malware that would effect you, although you do have a lot of running services...I suggest you post in the software forum for further assistance.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    3. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    4. Now go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 or 10 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    5. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    6. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
