Tape to hard drive

OK, not sure if this is hardware or software, but gonna try software!

We have done some recordings of our band on to tape, and I was wondering what the easiest (and if possible, free) way was to go about this.

Suggestions, comments, whatever, just need advice!

This is the cheapest at £35,so £35/the amount your band earns busking per day,something nice to watch on christmas day!

I'v actually changed my mind on looking at the one I linked it only converts the video,you have to sort out the audio yourself,with this one it has video and audio connectors which would be most important to listen to your music,I'm not sure what else you will need,I'v never had one,when I want to keep anything on my comp,I record it to rewritable dvd ,using my dvd recorder "same as a video recorder".I could then convert the dvd to mpeg format or something,which I havnt tried yet since I have a perfect quality dvd to watch on my comp .

Hang on, I'm on about audio tape, not video tape, aka VHS!!!!

 

Huh?you dont need to buy anything all you have to do is hook the headphone socket on whatever you play the tape on to the microphone socket on your soundcard,you can then record it with windows sound recorder,or about a million other free apps out there.

The cable you will need is a standard headphone style cable with two male ends on,one for the headphone socket on your tape player and the other for your microphone socket on your soundcard
