Hello, I am new to this forum, and my computer started having weird problems. Last night, I was on my computer when this odd clicking noise in the computer came up. I turned it off and went to bed. The next day, I started up my computer, and it had the same odd clicking noise, but on top of that, the taskbar had frozen too! Everything seemed to be lagging, I waited a few minutes and started up Firefox, and the taskbar still had the hourglass when i scrolled to the bottom and the minimizing/maximizing window on it wasn't done loading yet! I could see the home page and all, but I couldn't type anything and whenever I moved my cursor, it freezes for a bit, and then you can move it! And also, the clicking noise stopped. I got sick of this after like 10 minutes and resorted to holding the power button for it do shut down. I restarted it, still made that clicking noise, pressed f8 for the advanced options screen, and went to safe mode and pressed enter. Now, after probably 15 minutes, it is still on the safe mode screen, the loading bar finished, and with that horrid and most annoying clicking sound!

Please don't tell me that my computer is screwed over! :cry

    Hi

Possible and if the clicking noise is still happening and the click you are hearing has a metallic tone to is, is your hard drive is on its way out and a new one is worth getting soon,, but sooner than that its best to save to CD all your important data.

If you can tell us what brand your hard drive is, the manufacturer may have a diagnostic app for you to run, use this to find out the makers name, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Are the insides of your PC clean and free of dust as another option is that the CPU fan is clogged with fluff, and maybe struggling to spin properly, this leading to excess heating of the CPU and this can cause many errors including slowness and hanging in applications. Outside option maybe malware infection but with clciking noise it seems more hardware.

if the clicking noise is still evident please discribe it?
