On a still-clean PC (barely 48 hours old, this XP install), I've run into a problem which I cant seem to figure out.

My task manager isnt showing usernames.

I've already gone ahead and checked everything over twice now, and the only changes I've had was an Avast update before this issue showed up.

Could it be that I'm jumping the gun too fast on opening taskmanager? I've seen this before when I opened taskman before everything was loaded into memory...

Could it also be a conflict between Comodo BOclean and Outpost Firewall Pro? I've noticed major slowdown using either.

Also, I've had this rundll in my task manager ever since installing either, as well. Normal?

EDIT: I think I found the issue, my winlogon is sticking around for some reason. I know normally it goes out as soon as the startup procedure is done, so something must be stuck somewhere.

ISSUE RESOLVED: I must have been a bit too eager with turning off services via services.msc. Next time I'll leave that to the experts.

I'd still like a check on compatibility between Outpost Firewall Pro and BOClean and Avast 4 Home ed.

You should exert extreme care when changing the services in Windows, but if done correctly, you can vastly improve your computer's performance.
A good article on this process can be had:

Funny you should mention that BOClean is maybe causing a slowdown. I ran v4.25 for a long time and wasn't even aware that a newer version (4.26) had been released. When I found out, I removed the older one and installed the newer one. It immediately started using up to 65% of my system resources. I double checked all it's settings and they seemed OK. I left it alone, but about 30 minutes later it was still resource hungry. I rebooted (the 2nd time) and ever since it has been fine. I don't know why it was eating up my resources; maybe it checks out the PC when it's first installed or it was doing some extensive updating, but I've been running 4.26 for about 3 weeks now and it's been running perfectly. I don't use Avast (I have found it to be high on false positives and resource use) or Outpost so I can't comment, but BOclean works fine with AntiVir.

everything's first-install. Just reformatted. Avast has lots of false positives? Interesting. Any recommendations for another AV just in case Avast finally gets on my nerves?

Also, I've found out why I have a rundll in my taskman. Nvidia driver help. Anyone know how to remove/fix it?
