Why is tbps.ini.dat in My Documents. exterminate-it.com/malpedia/file/tbps.ini.dat says that it is a malware-associated dll, but goes on to say that malware files can be camouflaged with the same names as legitimate files. It seems I've read that it could be part of a legitimate file. Many have mentioned WebSearch. Can you always see a toolbar? How would it get in My Documents? Other sites-I think Spyware Doctor was one of them have detailed a really tedious process of getting into a whole lot of registry and file editing- kind of wore me out - especially when I don't even know what it is and how it got there. Not even sure who to ask. I typed it in on several sites and got no results. Have had questions before about various things and not known where to turn, so thought maybe I should start learning more about forums. like, where and who do I ask a question to?! Oftentimes, I'm afraid to just delete something suspicious-1. these things seem to relate to a lot of other files and 2. registry entries. -(am I just a newbie, or is it for real as complicated as it sure appears to be?::-----------well, guess this is a start for now. gotta start somewhere (shrug)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I see you have cross posted to 3 forums about this. This frowned upon because it wastes the precious resources of the few people who are doing this in their free time. Please pick which forum you wish to continue on and then inform the others that you are receiving help elsewhere.

If you wish to continue working here on Major Geeks and want to check your PC for malware then follow the below instructions to do a comprehensive cleaning.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
