TDK DvD writer issues

Hello,

I'm having a few problems after installing a TDK IndiDVD writer in mystem.
Whever I insert a DVD in the drive and run it all the windows icons cease to appear. When I put the dvd in and click on somthing like internet explorer or another application all the windows icons disappear unless I remove the disk then all the icons reappear. While the disk is in and the windows icon closes I can't do anything in windows exept through the 'Run' utility. It seems as if i access anything while a disk is in that windows always trys to load from the CD.

Here's my setup.
AMD 64 3000+ cpu
Gigabyte K8ns mb
1gig DDR kingston

I have the CD-RW setup as a master and the DVD-/+RW set up as a
slave.
Are there certain BIOS settings that I need to adjust or something else
that needs to be tweaked so I can correct the problem? Any help is appreciated. Much thanks. Love the site BTW

Hi just a thought , have you tried reversing master to slave .. Like make the DVD/RW master. ??
