   I was wondering if it was possible to update a my TDK DVDRW040N16x drive with drivers that would let it write on dvd +r discs instead of only dvd -r discs....

   No, I'm pretty sure they are completely seperate formats. Your DVD-R writer is not able to write to DVD+R discs.
