Technika Wireless Keyboard

Hi there

I have a ps/2 mouse and keyboard at the moment and just bought a new Technika WKEY05 wireless keyboard and mouse. Looks good.

It recommends uninstalling any proprietary software for existing mouse and keyboard through add/remove programmmes and reboot, then set up the mouse and keyboard. But as I can't see any software for the mouse and keyboard in the add/remove, I didn't.

I considered carrying out an uninstall of them through device manager, but decided not to, as if everything went wrong I wouldn't have a mouse or keyboard

Tried to install and while I could get the mouse to work there is no play from the keyboard.

Device manager recognises the wireless keyboard is there, but there is no response from the keys. I went through the connection procedures as instructed (the instructions being two lines), but there isn't anything on the keyoard to even indicate life.

I tried to reattach my mouse and it then wouldn't recognise it, so had to do a system restore to get that working.

Any suggestions?

Hi. Just a really stuuuuuupid question...did you put batteries in the keyboard? It may have come with batteries in it, with a piece of plastic in there to keep the batteries from making contact for shipping purposes. You may have to dig it out and remove it. Good night and good luck.

 

Not such a daft question sloopy, yeah I put batteries in, and tried others to make sure they weren't dud. I couldn't see any plastic strips.

The fact that the computer is showing the keyboard in Device Manager makes me think there is some sort of communication, just nothing from the keys. I have also checked for any kind of on/off or locking switch and didn't see one.
