temp folder

My available memory was way low, and when this happens, programs fail. What I usually do is go deleting the massive mp3 files I accumulate after burning them to CD. This didn't help, so I went to look at recent files via Find Files. The large files created in the last 24 hours were .dat files created by Nero. They were in the C:TEMP folder. I deleted 4 of the large files, but they are still available in recycle bin. Is it ok to delete all contents of this TEMP folder?

 

Not 100% sure mate, but it should be, sounds like the images nero made and burned have just been stored there.

Your temp folder stands for temporary. So, anything that is stored in that folder/directory is safe to delete. Also, empty your Recycle bin.

Note: You may not be able to delete everything that is within your temp folder, cause you may have something running in the background that is using the temp folder.

 

Or you may have something like thumbs.db in there

 

What is the thumb.db? I have seen that in my temp or download folder before.

 

I'm not dead sure, but I think it's a temporary file that tells the folder what to display for the thumbnails.

 

thumbs.db stores the thumbnail information of the folder. It is not a protected system file and can be deleted as long as it is not in use, i.e. you are viewing the directory in thumbnail mode.
