After installing a program to delete junk off the computer, I have a question regarding temp internet programs. Says that its a program, if I delete it may not run properly, and is this true since it is a temp file?
I realize this question may be so stupid people dont want to even bother answering it, I just wondered and didnt know.
    Thanks for any help

It seems as though he's talking about the C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files. If this is what you're talking about, these are basically ActiveX scripts that allow a web site to identify the way your computer is configured. For example, Windows Update requires you to download one of these ActiveX controls called "Update Class" and "CWDL_DownLoadControl Class". This script identifies what updates you've already installed so that it doesn't list repetitious updates.

Some of these ActiveX scripts, as you can imagine, can be dangerous if they have malicious intent. Be careful as to what scripts you're downloading. Which if you have your browser security settings configured properly, it will prompt you when a web site attempts to upload these scripts to you.

Removing these "programs" will cause no problems other than having to download them again if you visit a particular site often that requires it. One thing... make sure we're talking about the same thing here... I wouldn't want you to go and remove whatever it is you're talking about without being 100% sure that we're talking about the same thing.

well there are many and for an example, msmsger, or something close to that is on hand in this deletion. I dont know if these temp files are dangerous to deleter. I am seeing nothing about the x but even so I dont want to make the wrong move here. They are "only" temp files and should probably be destroyed if not used? Hope im not being cryptic with out reseaching this out to the fullest of my ability, just looking for easy experience with this.

Hmmmm... msmsger is the actual MSN Messenger program. I'm still unsure as to what or where you're talking about on your computer... do you know how to take a screen shot and then attach it to a post and let us see what you're talking about? Unless someone else knows exactly what you're asking....

Sorry I couldn't help you out

If you can post the location of this folder ( exactly like the way in the quote from T-Rex below ) we will be able to let you know if you should delete or not.
