Temp on a 6600GT

Hey!

well i was wondering how far a 6600GT can go before it says poff cus my card right now is at 84 °C (183 °F) and i am thinking that this is a litle to hot? or is this just me?
My fan(original) has bin making some weard noices latly but i thought this was normal so didnt do anything abaout it.

No, that temp is not normal. I don't know what would be right for that card but I saw the spec for a 8600GT that was 54C (it was new) and the owner considered that overly warm. It sounds like your fan is giving up or possibly just full of dust.

 

Like musksnipe said, check your fan. You might want to look into an aftermarket cooler for your card. Might work better than just replacing the fan.

Weird noices ain't normal when it comes to fans! Sounds like you caught it just in time! A lot of the cards I have had in the past had a poor application of TIM, sometimes just popping off the heatsink and fan and cleaning off the old and using the correct amount can help as well.
