I am using a wireless Microsoft mouse which has a mind of its own. Sometimes it is fine, other times it jerks all over the page and is very hard to pin down. I have a jigsaw program that I play a lot and it is woeful, takes me twice as long as it should. Logging into MG just now was difficult as well, the cursor sticks and I have to swirl it around to get it to behave. I have tried various fixes but so far none have worked. I have a new Windows 10 PC, I thought it might be not compatible but I can find no drivers newer than 2006. I am wondering if it could be the fault of some of the programs I use, I migrated quite a few from my Windows 7 computer eg the Jigsaw one. I use Chrome browser and sometimes Edge, doesn't make any difference. Has anyone have a fix that works?

I will post in the hardware section as well and try to get a recommendation for a new mouse, one that won't give me the irrits. It is very frustrating.

thanks for your reply. I did everything but still very stuttery. Tried a different mouse and the same. It appears to be a common problem with no real answer so just have to put up with it I guess. I still have my old computer so I will do my jigsaws on that.

What do you use it on, a mousepad or just the table top? and if the table, what is it made of?
    Have you tried different surfaces?

Have you tried replacing the battery(ies) in the mouse? I've got two RF mice.

Yes, the efficiency of a wireless mouse will depend on several factors:
The drivers and any accompanying software
The surface on which it is used
The lifetime of any battery/ies. As they wear out functions deteriorate.

solved!! I tried three different mice and all did the same so obviously was a problem elsewhere. It turned out to be the USB port, I had the receivers plugged into the back of the tower next to the HDML plug which is quite large and was preventing the little device from seating properly. I moved the mouse receiver to a different port and all is good now. When I think of the time I wasted, not to mention all you good people I feel a real drip. Thanks all for your input and interest.
By the way, the mouse drivers are all ancient, they are all Microsoft so obviously they make them and forget about them thereafter!

Yes, don't feel like a drip. Your post about what you discovered might help quite a few people suffering with the same problem.
