Hi there. Just got a new Aspire X Dreamer 2 case and it has a built in temperature led in the front. The probe looks like the ones on the bottom right in the attached photo that I found on some site. For the past 2 hours i have been trying to find a guide as to where to place the probe to properly read the cpu's temp. The search forums link wouldn't work, but I scanned through the Cooling and Modding section and found this link http://www.crystalfontz.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=467
It doesn't help me because I have a AMD Athlon 64 3500 socket 939(which has a full set of pins on the bottom) and my temperature sensor doesn't look like that at all. Some sites I have been to tell me to put it between the cpu and the heatsink, and others tell me that will fry my cpu. PLEASE tell me where I should attach the darn thing and what should I attach it with? Thanks for your time! :)

The best bet is to slide it NEXT to the CPU, but not between the CPU and heatsink. It is perfectly possible to place it under the CPU, so long as you can fit the wires around the pins without degrading the contact betweent the pins and the socket.

So far at attaching it : you probably won't need anything. You can glue it to the CPU/heatinsk but I wouldn't advise it.
