    Hi

1st off here are my specs:

Intel P4 3.0Ghz HT (Prescott is another name for HT?)
    MSI 865PE - Neo 3 Motherboard
    120GB Seagate Barracudda 8mb 7200rpm
    1 x 512MB Kingston RAM
ATI 9200SE Radeon 128MB vid card
    50x CD ROM

mine its not much of a problem but more of a query. my cpu temp is running at 50C and goes up to 60C when i play games. i've read and ppl say that kinda temp is normal or ok. i was wondering if i ran it at a cooler temp would the cpu work more efficient and faster? i would like too so my fans dun have to work so hard as it sounds like its working overtime. Also would it usually run at a lower temp with all those stock fans n heatsinks etc which then i reckon i may have an airflow problem?

recently i've had a problem where my cpu went up to 75C which was crazy. i thought it needed more thermal grease. so when i checked it out it was actually quite dusty. so i cleaned it all up, n decided to put in some new thermal grease. its gone down to 62C but b4 it was at 50C usually. does it take time for the thermal paste to work like a few days or something?

    any help would be appreciated
    thanks

    75ÂșC is so hot
Do you have back fan case ?
Trying use AS5 with other CPU heatsink that you can order at Newegg.com
look through "Cooling and Modding" theads it will help
    Good Luck

    Dusty?

Yes, AS5 has a "break in" time of about 50 hours, which involves full power cycles (turn on, warm up, turn off, cool down to room temperature, rinse & repeat). An aftermarket cooler should mean your fans don't need to work as hard.

As far as faster goes... unlikely unless you're triggering thermal throttling with those temperatures. More stable though with lower temperatures, means less crashes, and potentially more efficient and faster processing.

when I pulled my a64 off after only 4 months use the supplied thermal pad had also turned to dust  ,although it still needed a good sharp Rock and twist to get it off, drying out of paste and pads I know is bad,but I'v heard that the stuff they put on stock coolers is pretty darn good stuff
