rolleyes When I did a search for *.tmp files it brought up 57 files - mostly empty AOL tmp folders - so I went ahead and deleted all of them. When I did a search for ~,tmp there were 59 files - some going way back to 2002 when I bought my pc. Is it 'safe' to delete all those files in ~,tmp? Why is it that CCleaner does not clean out all those ancient tmp files? Thanks for help.

No clue why CCleaner doesn't fix those items. I've been using this http://www.xs4all.nl/~franckey/franckey/software/systemcleanup.htm for years without any problems. Haven't found this one in MG even though it shows you on the link that you can download it from MG. Have a look what this software does. Of course you can uncheck any item that you don't want to have deleted. Works for Windows 9x, NT, 200 and XP.

Do you have CCleaner set to delete all files?

Click on the Options icon at the left side of the window, then click on Advanced.
Uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours.
