    Hi all,

I'm about to build myself a PC and since I know from experience how delecate some parts can be I was wondering if I can test my memory in my old Mobo.

    Old Mobo -

    Abit VA-20 / ECS KM400-M Deluxe / KM400-M2 / KM400A-M2 / V7-2

Can't find the manual online (partly because my work firewall blocks A LOT of sites for hosting etc) but I believe the fastest compatible memory is DDR2700 (Crucial.com memory test agrees).

Since the new memory is a pair of Corsiar DDR3200 (2 x 1GB) I know that it is too fast. The question really comes down to, can I test the memory in the old Mobo (will it just run it slowly), or would the old Mobo fail to recognise it and therefore not boot?

Thought I should ask because I really don't want to risk frying my new memory (or old PC) trying this out.

    Thanks,

    Orb

search google for the motherboard type and see if hte memory is compatable, (size, type -ddr, ddr2, sdram, etc, model- 2700, 3200, etc. if it is, then it should b compateable, if you are unsure sure on anything, best not to take the chance. if you bought hte memory for that new computer, like sugested online by like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, then that memory should be compatable, and thus not the need to try out the ram in the old computer.
