testing the security on your home system

I'm pretty good with computers...but being that I am teaching myself as I go, and i'm learning something new everyday....I was hoping someone had some advice as to the best website or FREE program that can investigate your system...notify you of any potential security problems with your firewall settings, ports, etc., and give you some possible solution to tidy up a bit!!??
