The text background on my Win7 Home Premium hp laptop suddenly changed to yellow and I can't find a way to make it change back. Everything I do changes other things as expected but the background stays pale yellow. Malware or video adapter failing? Something else I haven't thought of?

    1. Post the exact model of HP Pavilion laptop
    2. Text background color in what programs? Browsers, Word, email program, something else or everywhere?

Please describe what you've done so we don't repeat things you have tried.

I can't give an exact model because the label is hidden behind the battery, but the front labeling says Pavilion g7. It happened everywhere, browser and local programs, system message windows. It also affected highlights in images. It also looked like the text color changed from black to blue (hard to tell against yellow). All the other colors on the screen appeared as expected.

At first I thought it might be overheating (this thing randomly gets super hot, even when sleeping) so I shut it down overnight. Even dead cold it was the same. I tried changing and/or modifying display themes with no effect.

The really weird thing now is I just set an appointment on the LabCorp website and everything magically went back to normal. I hadn't been doing anything unusual beforehand, no new programs or websites. In fact, the color change happened overnight while I wasn't even actually using the computer and the lid was closed. All I did today was the appointment and I noticed the color was back to normal. Don't know if it was normal when I started; it didn't hit me until the end.

Bottom line is the apparent problem resolved itself as randomly as it appeared. This box has always been a little strange (won't access any weather application, including the sidebar widget, refuses to communicate with my scanner) so maybe it's just time to retire it.
