Text colours have changed?

Text colours have changed from black to blue. How can I change it back to black?

    Example

    I open "My Pictures".
I click on a file folder.
Displayed are my pictures within that file, but all the picture names are now in blue text, instead of black.

    Thanks!
    :)

I think it has to do with compressed folders and/or encrypted folders. The blue text is Windows telling you that the content is compressed. Google won't deliver on this one...

You could try this. Only I think it would be better if Widows did not compress the things you need. We should find out how to do that. Anyway:

Right click on the Start button -> Explorer -> Tools -> View -> remove the check mark in the box "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in colour"

    Thank you for your reply.

I forgot to mention that I had my computer in a fix it shop for dusting, adding 1 GB RAM if basic maintenance such as scanning for Spyware/Adware/Virus didn't speed it up.

From what I understand, all they did was update, scan, remove Zone Alarm, and dust. I didn't bother with the additional RAM.

Well, I don't really see any connection but of cause - never say never. :)

    lol

I figured I might as well add that little tid bit of info, as text was black when it went into the fix it shop, and blue when it came out, lol.
    LOL

Thank you, that worked, blue text is back to black.
I don't understand this compression thing though?
    :confused

Could it be that they have compressed some of your system somehow? Unless someone inhere happens to know the answer you could call the shop. They owe you an explanation. You asked for more RAM but got this instead...

Well, just think of it as one more "cleaning" function. It saves space. You have a build in tool that can compress old files. Article here.

They said they tried to put in 1 GB RAM, but it wasn't compatible. So, they said either they try again tomorrow with a different one, or take the computer home and see if it runs faster after their cleaning.

It seems to be the same. I re-installed Zone Alarm, and believe it may be slowing it down.

I hope this was of some use. I think I'll call it a day. It's getting late over here in my little corner of the World...

So they did not have the compatible components for the job you wanted done but they just went ahead and made who-knows-what changes to your PC in order to be able to bill you? They could at least have offered get it for you. They have suppliers, right? I would definitely take the PC to another shop.

You bet! They quoted me $35 (Canadian) over the phone for "clean up", but I was charged $55 for 1 hours labour instead. If I wasn't tired from work, I would've spoke up.

Nope, not going there again, but unfortunatly my favourite place went out of business. They were very reasonable and I trusted them.
Aaahhh well, I got you guys to help me out and learn, and you do it for no pay!
Thanks so much, you guys are the best!

You need to know about all this ZoneAlarm business. There has been a bit fuss about it all over the Internet all day. From today brand new, updated versions of all ZoneAlarm's Firewalls and other of their programs are available for download at the company's homepage. This is important because it will conflict with the update that Microsoft is rolling out in these very hours. Link here.

You must check your version and update if necessary.
