Yeah, I like surfing around for joke sites. The weekend's the perfect time to do this, since probably everyone has nothing to do. :p

Weekends are when I work more hours in three days than y'all normally work in five. Nothin' to celebrate here.

Monday, on the other hand, is more often than not (although not always) my single day off for the week.

I had a long week of being ill and being generally cooped up.

Last night I celebrated by going to my friends house, fixing his PC and going out for a drink (on him ;) ).

Yeah, I had a minor cold over the week. Didn't stop me from my regular routine. ;)

I'm a stagehand. Whenever y'all go to a concert, opera, ballet, play, or attend a corporate event...we're the people you don't see or think about who started first thing in the morning with a completely empty room and created the stage, lights, sound, video, scenery, and costumes you enjoy, and then we stay about five hours after you leave tearing it all down so other people like us can do it all again tomorrow in another city.

Although this weekend, I'm doing a corporate event, so it's not touring, exactly. 12pm-10pm Thursday, 1pm-2am Friday, 8am-2am Saturday, 8am-4pm Sunday. Sunday will also include a 4pm-8pm job at another show. Oh..and it's all on the clock, they bring us food so they don't have to give us more than coffee breaks. This weekend works out to something like 53 hours from Thursday - Sunday.

I can't say i know how u feel because i don't do it professionally, but i do that stuff all the time at my school. No credit for it, rarely even a thank you, but it keeps me entertained so i'm ok with it.

Unless, of course, you happen to be working for Peter Gabriel

He rather likes to give his stage hands uniforms that instead of being blacks, are bright-orange-es. And he insists on having cameras backstage to film the roadies and techs occasionally during songs.

Actually that reminds me, on the tour I saw a year or so ago, its performed in the round, with a two section revolve (inner and outer). The keyboards were going around the outside and this poor sod had to walk around in his bright orange boiler suit making sure the cable for the keyboard didn't get caught on anything. Man, what a tricky job :p musta taken so many rehersals to get that right!

Well...I'm not a roadie, I'm a local. But I do essentially the same job, just the shows come to me instead of me touring with one particular show. :)

As for the cable paging...no rehearsal, not if it was a local. We're trained to be able to do that (I do it for WWF hand-held cameras quite regularly). You just go there and do it, and no one worries that you might not know how. :D

I have done a couple of shows where we've been required to wear something other than black...it's not natural! LOL!

*sorry for the hijack...I'm going to bed now.
