My Dad (72yrs old) just bought his first computer yesterday and was delighted with the system. :) However he called me today in a state of panic :( - his screen was upside down and he had no recollection of pressing any wrong buttons confused
Luckily I was surfing around MG's when he called me in his hour of need.
First of all he could not get through to Dell Customer Support for over an hour and when he did manage to get connected, he could not understand the young mans' accent! :(

Step in MajorGeeks.com with the Search facility and 1 minute later we have 'All Systems Go'

:clap :clap to this website AND to all the volunteers here who have supplied the answers to thousands of questions :)

Another satisfied customer - all thanks to YOU :)

Have you introduced him to the arcade yet?? I'm sure you have some penguins you'd like to introduce him to.:D

Cool on fixing the upside down screen (and can I just say 'huh??' on that one...never heard of that before).

Ya Laura, it could be a genetic thing.LOL Glad you got your dad's system up and running Grumbs, that would be disconcerting for a first time user, jeez, I'd freak if I saw that! :eek

The answer given by MG member was : -"right click desktop, properties, settings, advanced. Go to your video card tab and look for screen rotation".

Another solution is Ctrl Alt and (up)arrow. This corrects upside down or sideways screens :)

Hey augie, did you notice he didn't mention the penguins?? I think maybe he doesn't want the competition from his dad.:D

Hehe, I think his dad has enough of a learning curve ATM. I'm sure dad will teach Grumbs a thing or two in due course.LOL

Yea I echo Kestrel13! statement, my father(87) who when I was a child was always a "forward" thinker will have nothing to do with computers, which limits him completely. Constantly learning is what keeps us young at heart and mind, great to hear Grumbles your dad rocks
