    Thanks for the help removing all of the "SpyAway/Perfect Cleaner" pop ups, taskbar problems and desktop image from my computer. After following your step-by-step instructions in "Windows XP Cleaning Procedure", my computer is working fine. I appreciate your help and will let others I know who have the same problem to come to your site.
    Question: Do you have a reccommendation for specific antispyware/antivirus programs that seem to work best? I have been running the free edition of AVG.

    Thanks for your response.
    I read and followed intructions in Read and Run Me First before beginning the XP Cleaning.
    Am right now printing out all pages on How To Protect Yourself From Malware and will follow each step in your guide.

    I forgot to ask you: What is the specific name of this "SpyAway/Perfect Cleaner" ad pop up, taskbar and desktop problem I had on my computer? I'm a granny, age 60, and am new to this...

    I appreciate all of your help.

    But unless you attach the logs we requested in the procedure, we cannot tell you if you are really clean.


    Every scanning program can give malware totally or slightly different names. Basically you had what is classified as a rogue/fame application and this is often lumped under the general area often referred to as Zlob or SmitFraud. But there are many names given to this infection.
