Thanks and a bit of info

Got to your website by doing a search on removing 'outerinfo.com.' from my system.
Read your various postings to others concerning this pest and followed all your advisories, as best I could.
I assumed that listings found after running the 'Hijack this', would not necessisarily be word for word, so I just basically, looked for anything out of sync. I found the following in my log:

'O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nnt] C:\WINDOWS\system32\??crosoft.NET\wuaclt.exe'
it looked fishy, did a search and couldn't find anything like it on my system, so I junked it.

I then read (duh, I know should have read the whole thing first, but having this stuff on your system tends to make one anxious) on page 2, of my printed download of your advice to another, that the double question mark (??), occur as invalid characters, and 'Malware does this to mess you up.' So that made me feel good, that perhaps I'd found something.
It appears I did, (as i didn't really find anything else out of the ordinary anywhere else) continued following all your steps, and, knock on my wooden head, this baby appears to be clean.
So this post is a thanks, and I included the above log line, in the event it was the problem, and it can be used to help another.

No that was it, but, man-o-man was that a pain in the butt.
I've been fooling around with this stuff since my C64 days, and I am always, always careful. But they finally snuck one by me.
It was my fault. Needed a key for 'MY' not just 'a', legitimate copy for Neverwinter Nights, tried them first but since I never registered,(never registered cause never had the time to fool with it) yada yada...
Anyway, went to a 'warez' site which is of course like going into a sewer...long story short, stepped in poo and tracked it into my house.
And I knew better!
ALL my stuff is legit (early '50's catholic school did that), ya think I could have gotten away clean just this once, you know, good karma, for always being on the up and up.
LOL, guess karma doesn't work on the sleazy side of the internet.
So I figure the help I got from Major Geeks, is the payoff for beng good most of the time. It took time and a lot of research, but it could have been a whole, whole, whole lot worse!!
Got off with a warning and a slap on the wrist this time!
