Micro$oft and IE 6 help me out with this warning.

Is this a web page you're trying to view?
    If so....where?
I can go see if I get the same "Help" and if NOT I can look in my IE settings to see how I'm set up.

If you are getting a red X where pictures should be, it is an easy fix.

First off, obviously make sure it is happening frequently, not just on a website here and there because their can be a problem with the server hosting the website. You can also try refreshing a page (refresh or F5). You can verify Internet Explorer is setup to show images by going to Tool, Internet Options, click the advanced tab and under Multimedia make sure Show Pictures is checked. Make sure you have the latest updates for Internet Explorer from Windows Update.

Unless I'm mistaken ( happens more often than I'll admit ) the option that you are looking for is under the Tools tab and is"show pictures".

    Flash and Shockwave

You can resolve this by checking:
tools -> internet options.-> Advanced -> Allow active content to run in files on My computer.

(Located in the "security Section", second line) If it's a file on your computer

    If it's a web page:
    Windows XP SP2

Important You can turn off the Information Bar in Internet Explorer by lowering the default security settings. However, we strongly recommend that you leave these security settings at their default level or higher. The default security settings in Internet Explorer are designed to help protect your computer from viruses and from attacks over the Internet.

    Information Bar Element Display
Information Bar Text Your security settings do not allow ActiveX controls to run on this page. This page may not display correctly. Click here for more options...
    Short Text Software Blocked
Menu Options Allow this site to run ActiveX controls

    What’s the risk?

Please pardon my above response, as I missed a few tabs to click and Bladesofhalo had already posted the correct information!

Thanks Toni, this was unchecked in my IE6.:p Now checked.:D

    @Novice, Bridesofhalo.
That option was already checked on my IE6, so I hope Toni's advice will solve the problem. Will again download the page that caused me trouble and check it out.

Think I've got a clash between AOL and IE6. It seems to work when I save the html file but when I view it later the red x's have returned. More investigation by me required. Bazza

Not posting this as a work around, but I wonder if you still have similar issues with an alternative browser, such as opera or firefox. As in the save as for the website you wish to copy.

In addition, when you do a "save as" on a website, the graphics are all stored in a seperate folder that the browser will create. Can you browse to this create folder (where all the pics are stored) and view them?

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have used IE ever since starting going on the Net. Have never felt the need to switch, and yes I have read all the pro's and cons of ditching IE.

As for "save as", I'd rather save the webite page as Webpage, HTML only. This does away with the annoying feature of saving of saving the graphics separate from the text. I'll try again what you have suggested. Bazza

No, what I meant was the following:

Does using an alternative browser have the SAME issue?

I'm not saying you should jump to something besides IE. I just want to know if using an alternative has the SAME issues. :) IF you have the same issues, then it is a system problem. If you don't, then it is an IE problem, which we need to fix! Mere troubleshooting! Which is why we come here to help you and others.

    More beeeer.......

Looks like I'm gonna have to weaken and try another browser, if only to prove where the area of fault may be, as you suggest. Bazza
