The ever filling hard drive

I emptied about 4 gb of crap off my C drive the other day using CrapCleaner, emptying my deleted items folder in OE etc etc because I was getting a low disc space message. Today I got the same message and when I checked my disc was at full capacity again. Checking the contents of my C drive I can not see what is using up all this space and whatever I try and do nothing seems to free any space up. Any ideas what is going on here?

 

OK this might have been the problem, the Microsoft Anti Spyware errors log was a whopping 3 gb.

With that gone that's a symptom dealt with but not necessarily the cause. So I'm still open to suggestions.

 

Try http://www.solitude.dk/filethingie/ for FileThingie. It is able to sort files to size. I haven't used it but it may help find space hoggers. Try a google search for "file size", without quotes of course. That is where I found this link to the above. If you are using XP aand have your PC set to "Hibernate"it will reserve space on your hard drive equivalen to the amount or RAM. Restore point reserves up to 12% of your hard drive capacity as well.

Forget filethingie. It is written in some relatively obscure programming language and I deleted it from my PC. Still do a google search, though. Bazza
